Due Date

So, I failed to mention my due date in my last post-sorry! The official due date is June 29th.

A well kept secret

So...our little family has been keeping a secret & it has been easier considering that most of our closest friends and family are not even in the same state! Now, why a secret you may ask? Hmmm...I guess just for fun. We think it has been long enough & have decided to tell everyone that we are expecting baby #3. We also got the ultrasound today (a super fun valentines day event) and found out that the baby looks healthy and is right on track with the correct size for the due date. Dad, Trinity, and Brinley were all there & it was so fun to watch Trinity looking at the screen as we explained to her that she was seeing the baby in my belly. She stood right next to me most of the time & even got curious enough about the jell on my stomach to sneek a touch of what it might feel like! Brinley did very well through the whole thing also & was all smiles sitting on Dad's lap. It was almost like she already knew what we were waiting to find out....is this another girl??? Well......Here is your first look at Brown Baby BOY!!!

Big Girl Bed

Trinity has been sleeping in a little toddler bed since she was about 19 months old. (because she started climbing out of her crib) Matt thought it might be time to get her a regular sized bed, so we went out looking for a big girl bed. Trinity had been doing really well with the whole potty training concept, so while we were shopping I told her that if she could stay dry during the day all the time then she could have one of these big beds. I didn't realize how impressed she was by that idea & so when she became officially potty trained we bought this cute set of bunk beds. It was amazing that all the parts fit in our van & Matt even hauled all the heavy boxes upstairs by himself! Right now the bottom is divided into 3 drawers holding a bunch of toys, but the slats can be taken out so that another twin mattress can be put in. I love this bed set, it is like we bought 4 beds in 1! Both girls LOVE playing on them & even though Brinley still sleeps in her crib they are both looking forward to when one of the beds will be Brinley's.

Can Opener Curse!

I am starting to hate can openers! (or canned foods) We have this nice one that can be mounted under the cupboards & you just put the can in & it spins around and then hangs there until you come back to take it off. The only thing I don't like about that one is that it is hard to keep clean-and there is nothing more gross than a gunky can opener!! PLUS the ghetto cupboards in our current home are not wood-they are this random metal, so we can't even use that one!

Next there is "old trusty" the kind that you just hand crank, well I guess the one I have needs a tune up or something because I can barely get it to work-I end up getting all mad & spilling bean juice, or tuna drippings all over the place as I struggle to get the stupid can open! Grrr, I am getting frustrated just thinking about it!!

Last we have one of the new battery operated ones that you set on top, push a button & it spins around the can taking the entire lid off. At first I loved this one, but now it has turned into the demon of all can openers! Sometimes it just stops half way through & gets stuck on the half opened can! Or...it goes all the way around but it leaves spots un-cut!

I know that this really shouldn't be that big of a deal, but last night my dinner consisted of 5 different canned foods & I just about lost it! I guess I will be off to the store looking for the perfect can opener. Maybe I will be able to break the curse of the can openers!

Oh Happy Day!

Well, it has finally happened-Trinity is potty trained!! For about the past 3 1/2 weeks now she goes in by herself, does her business, flushes the potty, washes her hands & informes me of what just happened. (of course I am still called in to "come wipe my bum" everytime she does a #2, but I guess that will eventually end too) Here are a few pics of her journey on the long road to becoming a "Big Girl".05/06/07 Eating a cup cake ice cream cone. (I found her like that one day) 04/25/07 Using Grandma & Grandpa Burton's potty-such fun!
04/08/07 The day of the big "Potty Party" Maybe someday I will blog about that event!
11/10/06 She thought she had to be naked to use the potty-I love her little smile!

08/24/06 Color or use the potty? What the heck, I'll do both!

As a reward Trinity got a brand new big girl bed & she still talks about how she got the bed because she pees & poops in the toilet. I don't have an updated picture of her on the potty (I guess taking pics got a little old after the 5th time!!), but I just might have to snap one so I can come full circle on the whole event. It seems like we were pushing her pretty hard to get it down, but in reality we were never really that stressed about Trin not being potty trained at a certain time. We figured that when she was ready it would happen, but man it is sure nice not to be changing two diapered bums anymore!! Hooray Trinity YOU DID IT!
